Myofascial Release
Fascia is a
densely woven, specialized neuromuscular system that connects every muscle,
bone, nerve, artery, vein and internal organ in the body. The fascial system
resembles a spider’s web or sweater in appearance. It connects the entire body
and supports all structures. In a healthy state, fascia is relaxed and wavy. It
can stretch and move without restriction.
After physical trauma, including scarring or inflammation, fascia loses its
flexibility and becomes tight. This can affect the entire body and produce pain
or restrict motion. Myofascial release techniques and movement therapy allow the
practitioner to remove this tension and restore the fascia, and thus the body,
to health.
