Applied Kinesiology (AK) uses basic muscle testing to evaluate areas of dysfunction within the body and help determine the best treatment options. AK is based on the principle that because the body is self-maintaining, its neuromuscular system will tell us what is wrong if we ask the right questions. George H. Goodheart Jr. D.C., (Doctor of Chiropractic) developed AK’s manual muscle testing method in 1964. An AK examination still depends on the healthcare practitioners’ medical knowledge and an assessment of the patient’s symptoms and health history. AK is part of an overall medical examination.
AK can be used to treat a variety of symptoms and conditions including:
· Low back pain, sciatica, sports injuries.
· Headaches, migraines, and stress related disorders.
· Postural abnormalities, disc injuries and nerve root irritation.
· Allergies, asthma, eczema, and recurrent ear/nose/throat infections.
· PMS symptoms and menopause.
· Irritable bowel symptom.
· Food intolerances.
· Behavioral and sleep disorders in infants and children.
· Dyslexia.
